Intro
Spotify Recognize entails adding a new feature to an existing App that allows users to Recognize songs on the go and adding an extra feature called listen party that allows users to create a playlist with friends for sharing music.
Project Statement
Problem: Many Spotify users have expressed a desire for a music recognition option within the app. However, currently, this feature is not available on the platform. Some of the concerns are that it could potentially take away from the user experience.
Solution: After conducting thorough research and understanding user needs, I implemented a music recognition feature within the Spotify app to Avoid one of the major pain points which was switching between Apps to identify music. The feature allows users to quickly identify songs they hear in their daily lives and add them to their playlists seamlessly while I ensured that the feature was integrated seamlessly with the app's existing functionalities so that it did not take away from the overall user experience.
Outcome: Help the App stay competitive in the music streaming industry, as it differentiates the platform from other music streaming services. This feature has the potential to increase user retention and engagement on the platform.

By analyzing competitive products and identifying unmet customer needs, we aim to improve existing features and provide a more comprehensive music recognition experience. As part of my research process, I conducted a thorough analysis of current competitors in the market. This analysis allowed me to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of these products and understand what works and what does not work from the competition. Through this analysis, I was able to identify the stronger features that can be iterated in the new App to improve the user experience. This approach provides a strategic context for identifying opportunities and threats in the market, and it allows us to learn from the best practices of our competitors while also identifying areas where we can differentiate ourselves and set ourselves apart.

In-Person: see in person how users interact with the app and icons and figure out areas where the experience is not seamless.
Virtual:
Do a remote meeting where the users can also interact with the app and have a dialogue as they use the new feature to understand their thought processes.

With the results from the affinity mapping, I identified several areas for improvement. One of the main updates that I implemented was the inclusion of prompts to guide users to the new feature and a full-screen prompt on the home page to advertise the new feature. Additionally, I placed an emphasis on making sure that users are easily able to discover and utilize the new feature.
